Some Benefits Of A Waterproof LED Flashlight
There are many benefits to using a waterproof LED flashlight over the older sort of flashlight that uses a traditional light bulb. First of all, the bulb in an LED will last much longer than the kind of bulb you would find in an older light. Your battery life will also be much better with and LED light. LEDs are also more desirable because many of them are actually waterproof and shock resistant, which will also lengthen the life of the device.
Light bulbs are known for burning out, especially at the worst possible times. Think about all of the times when a light bulb has burnt out at your home, or in the headlights or turn signals of your car, or in your flashlight. There is nothing more frustrating than when a light unexpectedly goes dark. With LED lights, this is very unlikely to happen. LEDs are usually good for up to one hundred thousand hours.
Not only is bulb life long, but battery life is also exceptional, no matter what kind of battery is used in the LED light. When the batteries start to die on and LED, it just gets a little dimmer, rather than completely going out. You may want to consider the type of batteries a light uses when deciding which kind to purchase. Lithium batteries tend to get you more power, and they also have a longer shelf life, however more standard battery sizes like the AA, AAA or D batteries are easy to find and cheaper than lithium style.
For a long time, LED lights were not popular as flashlights because they did not come in white. This is no longer relevant as LED lights are now available in bright white, which has many practical uses.
Not only are LED torches long lasting because of their bulb and battery life, they are also very resilient. A lot of LED flashlights are actually built to be waterproof. You can completely submerge the light in water and fully expect it to function just fine.
The LED style flashlight is also very shock resistant. Even if you drop it, the light will still continue to function - something that was not as common for older flashlights.
To learn more about your options for a waterproof LED flashlight, try looking online. The internet is a great resource for comparing features and prices of many different products quickly.
Are LED flashlight batteries different from regular ones?
I just bought some STINGER flashlights one LED one didnt have a battery so i bought one from eBay and the light is only strobing (flashing) is this a problem with the battery or actual device?
To get the strobe / flashing mode, you just click the switch twice in a row quickly, and it comes on. The flashlight resets itself every time it is turned off, so you always start from the same point in the feature cycle.
I think a different model, you turn the lower end cap one way or the other.
A multi-function solar charger for the wild (cnet)
The mPowerpad from Singapore-based startup Third Wave Power does more than
juice up your iPhone. It also acts as a radio, light source and insect
repellent. Charge up your iPhone with clean, renewable energy using the
mPowerpad. (Credit: Jacqueline Seng/CNET Asia)If you're off the (power) grid
often--and you don't own a rugged solar phone--you might need the mPowerpad, a
charger that harnesses solar energy to charge up to two devices at a time.
Launched by Singapore-based startup Third Wave Power, the mPowerpad is
actually more than a solar charger. It also acts a reading light, flashlight,
insect repellent (by emitting an ultrasonic frequency) and FM/AM/shortwave
receiver. You can listen to whatever you're tuning in to with the built-in
speaker (right) or via the 3.5mm audio jack (left). There are two USB ports
for charging. (Credit: Jacqueline Seng/CNET Asia)During a demo at the Clean
Energy Expo Asia 2011, Third Wave Power co-founder Lim Chuin Kiat showed off
the device's accelerometer-based user interface which we found relatively
intuitive and easy to use. For instance, tilting the device in a certain
direction triggers one function, or turns it off. Lim says that avoiding the
use of moving mechanical parts ...
