elasticity of demand is given by

e = dq/dp p/q

where q is quantity. Rewriting your revenue function in this way

q = (1/5)(300 - p^2)

dq/dp = (1/5)(-2p) = -2p/5

e = dq/dp p/q = -2p/5 p/q = -2p^2/(5q)

At p=15

e = -2(15^2)/(5q) = -2*225/(5q) = -450/(5q) = -90/q

So what value of q does p=15 imply?

q = (1/5)(300 - p^2)
q = (1/5)(300 - 15^2)
q = (1/5)(300 - 225)
q = (1/5)(75)
q = (1/5)(75)
q = 15

So substituing this back into our elasticity equation

e = -90/q
e = -90/15
e = -6

For purposes of this question you would ignore the sign so

e = 6

Therefore price is elastic and prices should be dropped.

To verify, what is the revenue with p=15?

R = pq = 15*15 = 225

Now drop price to 10

Note that dropping the price from 15 to 10 increased revenue from 225 to 400.

The elasticity at p=10 is

e = -2p^2/(5q) = -2(10^2)/(4*40) = -200/160 = -1.25

Ignoring the sign e>1 so it is still elastic and thus revenue will still increase if the price is lowered.
