Useful Activities For Those Who Stay At Home
For a fact, there are numerous things for people to do at home, which means that those who have chosen to stay at home or have been forced to stay at home for one reason or another actually have a lot of things that can be done. Many can be enriching and edifying while others can be so but also begun on the Internet. Certainly, learning a few things can also help insulate one from economic uncertainty.
The first thing to understand is that the presence of the Internet is generally a very beneficial thing. The ways that it can allow people to generate a real and consistent income in a legitimate and legal fashion are practically endless. Areas in the Internet many people today understand that it's possible to make money blogging, for instance, which really doesn't require much more than access to a computer.
This is because the act of setting up a website and establishing it requires pretty much nothing at all, even money, because there are numerous Internet hosts who are glad to have a blog on their site, because it draws visitors not only to the main site but also to the blog. When it's done correctly, blogging can actually begin to generate money for the blog proprietor. Keep in mind the key words are 'done correctly, ' though.
There are literally millions of bloggers out in the world and a new website pops up every five seconds, but don't let that be an impediment. Just have a passion for something and learn to do the very simple things it takes to get a blog going. Traffic will eventually make its way to the blog once the activities needed to start generating traffic are carried out, so do so and then take pleasure from the act.
Additionally, a lot of people who stay at home look at it as a way to learn a relaxing or even useful craft or hobby. One that's been perennially popular is leatherworking, and many people look at taking small pieces of leather goods -- such as a leather watch strap -- and then embossing them with designs or initials or some such as a way to not only keep busy but also to grow a little as a person.
That's because one who becomes good at something like that can call him or herself a craftsman. They may be in it for relaxation or they may be looking at those leather straps as a way to start up a business online or to create a blog and then to make something of it. Today, more people than ever before are looking at the latter possibilities as something that they'd really like to see happen.
Finally, for those who stay at home and occasionally run out of things to do, it can be useful to begin reorganizing or just flat-out cleaning the house. Take a look around and start picking out things that can be stored away. Maybe there's an old pair of brown boots that hasn't been worn in years. Pick them up, store them away and just plain stay busy. Those who do stay active and productive live for far longer than those who don't.
Would military intervention in North Korea bring back the draft? Or does the U-S still have adequate forces?
We've troops committed to Iraq and Afghanistan, plus National Guardsmen lined up along the Mexican-US border. If the situation with North Korea (or even Iran) escalates, will this mean conscription and a tightly-strapped military?
LeoGirl is partially correct. After consecutively failing to meet recruitment goals after 9-11, new lower aptitude standards and a renewed recruitment drive is giving the military some success in signing up enlistees. An interesting article about its renewed message and drive can be found here:

Readiness levels of the Army are very low. 2/3 of the rapid deployment force can't do what they are tasked with doing. Mostly due to that fact that equipment consumption in Iraq is 4 times what was projected.
Bag Week Review: The Chrome Anton (crunchgear?)
**What is it?** Is it a messenger bag? Is it a briefcase? How about both?
Chrome's Anton laptop bag is equal parts business and play. It comes in both
green and black and has a real military feel to it, at least in army green. It
may not have the most pockets, or be the lightest bag I've toted around, but I
can't help but love it. You can tell the user was in mind during the design
process, as proven by swiveling shoulder strap hooks and the cross pattern of
the Velcro. It is, after all, the little things that count. Made of nylon and
military spec wax-coated canvas, the Anton is heavy duty enough for a tornado
chaser. I got stuck in a down-pour yesterday and was really worried about my
laptop, but it was safe and dry thanks to the Anton. When the bag is full, it
takes on a very boxy shape much like a brief case. When packed with a couple
knick knacks, it sports a much more casual look.
